How to Setup MFA
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your c/side account. Follow these steps to enable it:
Supported MFA Methods
c/side supports two types of MFA:
- Authenticator Apps: Compatible with Authy, Google Authenticator, 1Password and other TOTP apps
- Hardware Security Keys: Support for Yubikeys and other FIDO2 security keys
Setup Instructions
1. Access MFA Settings
- Click your name at the bottom right whilst in the dashboard
- Go to Account Settings
- Click on the "Security" tab
- Scroll to the "Multi-factor Authentication" section
2. Choose Your MFA Method
Using an Authenticator App
Follow the prompts to scan the QR code with your authenticator app:
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app and enter the code it generates.
Using a Hardware Security Key
Connect your security key and follow the browser prompts:
3. Complete Setup
Enter your account password to confirm the changes. Your MFA setup is now complete!
Best Practices
We recommend setting up both an authenticator app and a hardware security key as backup methods. This provides redundancy in case you lose access to one method.
You can add multiple MFA methods to your account at any time through the Security settings.
Backup Codes
You can generate backup codes in the dashboard by clicking "Generate Backup Codes". These one-time use codes allow you to regain access to your account if you lose access to your primary MFA methods. Store these codes securely.
